What favor is there for the Jew?
\nDoes circumcision profit you?
\nTo them from God commandments fell;
\nWhere is your faith, O Israel?
\nLet God be true and justified;
\nLet men be charged that all have lied.<\/p>\n
If by my sin God\u2019s pow\u2019r commend,
\nThen why should God thus take revenge?
\nIf when I\u2019m false he\u2019s glorified,
\nAm I a sinner, though I\u2019ve lied?
\nThen shall I sin that good may come?
\nNo, God forbid, just damnation.<\/p>\n
We are no better than the Jew;
\nAll Gentiles under sin we proved.
\nAs it is written, None is right;
\nNone search or understand the Light.
\nOut of the way have all men gone.
\nNo man on earth does good, not one.<\/p>\n
Their throat\u2019s a grave; their tongue\u2019s a snake;
\nTheir feet have run t\u2019ward blood to take.
\nTheir way is full of misery;
\nAnd ruin will accompany.
\nThe way of peace have they not known.
\nNo fear of God their eyes are shown.<\/p>\n
What things the law of God demand,
\nThese must apply to sinful man.
\nThat every mouth of man may stop;
\nUpon the world, God\u2019s gavel drop.
\nNo flesh shall stand before the throne;
\nFor by the law all sins are known.<\/p>\n
The way to God doth now appear;
\nThe prophets and the law are clear.
\nGod\u2019s righteousness faith will provide.
\nNo difference then, for all he died.
\nIn sin has plunged all Adam\u2019s kin.
\nGod\u2019s glory, no, he cannot win.<\/p>\n
But by his grace He\u2019s made us just;
\nRedeemed in Christ His blood we trust.
\nSet forth by God this offer stands:
\nFaith in his blood his grace demands.
\nI do declare, for God is just:
\nHis righteousness to all who trust.<\/p>\n
All boasting then by faith is vain;
\nBy lawful deeds there is no gain.
\nOne God shall justify the Jew.
\nBy faith, he calls the Gentiles too.
\nDoes faith make void God\u2019s holy law?
