Chapter 1

Joshua 1:5  There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

I will be with thee. Moses and Joshua were leaders for all of Israel. They could trust them because God was with them. It’s good to trust your leader. The Holy Spirit is your leader. Pastors, elders, preachers, teachers? Sure. But even they could fail tee and forsake thee. There is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. There is one that will not fail or forsake you. There is no substitute for the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

Therefore, don’t take lightly the words of a Spirit-filled man of God that is over you. You may not be in a right relationship with God when he is. Just saying.

Joshua 1:8  This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Day and night. I tell you I try. I think maybe this may be how through the Spirit we mortify the deeds of the flesh. Now ye are clean through the word. The word is the sword of the Spirit. It’s his sword. He weilds. He cuts down. He destroys. He cuts asunder. Through the word of God. The more we meditate therein, the more we hack at the flesh.

The only prosperous way is the way of God. The only good success is the success that the good Lord gives. Oberve to do.

Day and night. The meat offering of the Levites. Half in the morning, and half in the evening. When you wake and when you sleep.

Joshua 1:11  Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.

Three days. After 40 years, and funeral after funeral, only 3 days now. I wonder if some doubted that it would happen. Not doubted God or didn’t want to go. But maybe just couldn’t believe that the 40 years was over. No more wandering. No more murmuring and complaining Korahs. Zimli? Was there maybe one more. Was he really the last one? I mean if you go by probability the next event to happen would not have been a crossing over, but a funeral.

Chapter 2

Joshua 2:10  For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.

There’s Sihon and Og again.

Joshua 2:14  And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the LORD hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.

This is God’s terms: His life for yours.

Joshua 2:18  Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father’s household, home unto thee.

Make sure your family is saved. Noah’s family all went into the ark. I know we want to see many saved and we want to do a work for God, but neglect not your family. That is your ministry.

Joshua 2:24  And they said unto Joshua, Truly the LORD hath delivered into our hands all the land; for even all the inhabitants of the country do faint because of us.

What things soever you desire, believe that ye have received them and ye shall have them. They believed it. They didn’t believe this at Kadesh. Well 10/12 didn’t.

Chapter 3

Joshua 3:2  And it came to pass after three days, that the officers went through the host;

What is it about 3 days. There’s 3 days all over law. 3 days in the grave. 3 days. 3 days. 3 days.

Joshua 3:5  And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the LORD will do wonders among you.

Tomorrow is the big day. Today, we sanctify ourselves. Reminds me of Brother Toby Power’s message on Magnify the Lord. People are always waiting on the big things to praise God. They want to see the big miracle, the big move, the big deliverance. God may do that. He may not. But it we keep waiting for the big thing, we miss God in the little things. I guess that really doesn’t correlate to this scripture.

What I’m trying to say is, “Don’t wait for the wonders to sanctify yourself.” Sanctify yourself now, today, while you can. Prepare yourself for tomorrow. It might not be tomorrow as in the next day, it may be tomorrow week, or tomorrow year, or even tomorrow life. YOU sanctify yourself, and THE LORD will do wonders among you. There’s an obligation on your part on all this. Amen!

Joshua 3:15  And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,)

They stepped into the brim of water, and the waters receded. Peter stepped in and they went nowhere.

Chapter 4

Joshua 4:19  And the people came up out of Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, in the east border of Jericho.

The month of Abib. Passover was in just a few days. What do you think of that. Isn’t that something else. I mean that could have been a good excuse to not go over. Priest are getting ready for the Passover. We can’t spare the ark. No, we don’t have enough time to set everything up and then take it all down. We’re going over to Jericho. No that’s no gonna work.

You can worship and serve God at the same time. They go hand and hand.

Chapter 5

Joshua 5:9  And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you. Wherefore the name of the place is called Gilgal unto this day.

The reproach of Egypt. What is that. The slavery? The bad Egyptian attitude they brought with them. The reproach of Egypt. Reproach is something that stays on you. I don’t know. It seems that he’s referring to the 40 years in the wilderness, and now the crossing over Jordan. The crossing over Jordan was the rolling away of the reproach of Egypt. Why was it not rolled away at the Red Sea? What is that reproach. The stains of sin. The unbelief.

Joshua 5:10  And the children of Israel encamped in Gilgal, and kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the month at even in the plains of Jericho.

See, 4 days after the crossing is the Passover.

Joshua 5:12  And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.

Wow. Just wow. No soup for you! That was it. Elijah and the Raven. No more manna. Reminds me of Hebrews: No more milk, but now meat.

Joshua 5:13-15  And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?  (14)  And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?  (15)  And the captain of the LORD’S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.

Had to be Jesus; in Revelation 19 fatigue. Holy ground is the dead give away.
