And when any will offer a meat offering unto the LORD, his offering shall be of fine flour; and he shall pour oil upon it, and put frankincense thereon:

No doubt, the meat offering is a picture of Jesus Christ. The meat offering is actually a meal offering or a grain offering.  There were three different meat offerings: just the fine flour, or the fine flour baked in an oven pan, or baked in a frying pan. Either way, it’s clear that meat is some form of bread.

Well, Jesus is the meat:

Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. (John 6:27)

And Jesus is the bread:

Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. (John 6:32,33)

And the Holy Spirit is the oil that is poured upon the fine flour:

And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: (Matthew 3:16)

And the frankincense thereon:

And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. (Matthew 2:11)

There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat. (Matthew 26:7)

I know that was spikenard in the alabaster box, but I still think it is significant and related to his death (the meat offering) in that Jesus said, “She hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.” (Matthew 26:12)

Jesus has fulfilled ALL the law: the burnt offering, the meat offering, and the drink offering. (Exodus 30:9, Number 29:6) Jesus is so complete and so perfect. I may not understand all that Jesus represents, but I know enough to know that he is sufficient in all. I don’t want to be Christ-like. I would just rather have Christ.

Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. (John 6:34)
